The Logistics Staff has functional responsibility, on behalf of the Chief of Defence, for logistic services, materiel administration, buildings and properties and combined materiel services. The tasks of the Logistics Staff divisions are as follows:

The Combined Materiel Agency supports the defence procurement authorities in the fields of codification, quality assurance and contract audit. Corresponding assistance is provided on request to other government departments as well as to NATO and other NATO countries in accordance with agreements. Countries not affiliated to NATO are provided with support on the basis of bilateral agreements. On request, the procurement authorities can also be provided with support in connection with contract negotiations.

The Materiel Division (MATDIV) is responsible for the coordination of the Defence Forces materiel administration according to regulations, directives and instructions from the Ministry of Defence.

The Infrastructure and Environment Division (ISEVDIV) is responsible for national and NATO joint-funded infrastructure including related properties and environmental questions.

In addition, the Logistics Staff is, for a limited period, responsible for providing administrative and organisational support to the Chairman of WEAG Panel 1 since the chairmanship of this panel is currently held by Norway. the Chairman of WEAG Panel 1 is responsible for actively coordinating, and assisting in the handling of matters concerning multilateral and bilateral cooperation both within WEAG and vis-à-vis the Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD).
