THE ARMY MATERIEL COMMAND IS DIRECTLY SUBORDINATE TO HQ DEFENCE COMMAND NORWAY.

ARMYMATCOMNOR's tasks include:

  • The procurement, operation and maintenance of all materiel for the Army and the Home Guard.
  • The development of new materiel for the Army and the Home Guard.

The normal procedure for the purchase of goods or services is as follows:

  • The relevant professional body reviews technical aspects of the purchase.
  • The Procurement and Economy Division issues enquiries and invitations to tender and coordinates the subsequent commercial/technical evaluation of tenders received.
  • The Procurement and Economy Division also organises contract negotiations with the suppliers and is the only body authorised to act on behalf of the Command in placing orders or contracts.
