‘The 2030 Agenda represents an integrated approach to development. It applies to all countries and affects all parts of society. It is therefore important to gain insight into how Norway can most effectively align efforts to address global challenges and efforts to combat poverty,’ said Minister of International Development Anne Beathe Tvinnereim.

The expert group will be led by Research Director at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) Ole Jacob Sending. Over the course of the winter, the group will have meetings with civil society organisations, donor countries and developing countries, development banks, the UN system, regional organisations, researchers and think tanks. The expert group is starting its work immediately and will deliver its report by the end of April 2023. The group’s recommendations will provide important input to the preparation of the future aid budget.

‘Determining how to mobilise financing for the SDGs is no easy task, and assessing the various potential solutions is equally complex. The members of the expert group have extensive and diverse expertise, and we look forward to getting started,’ said Research Director Sending.

The members of the expert group have expertise in areas such as development policy, international development cooperation, multilateral cooperation and development architecture, climate and environmental issues, public finance, the private sector, statistics and analysis. The expert group has members from a variety of institutions and is representative in terms of geographical distribution and gender.
