IMDi aims to increase employment, build strong communities and common arenas, promote equality, and combat negative social control.
IMDi implements the government’s integration policy and is under the Ministry of Labour and Inclusion. IMDi manages its own tools within the ministry’s area and ensures good coordination of integration policy across ministerial areas.
IMDi strengthens the competence of municipalities, sector authorities, and other partners in integration and diversity. The directorate was established on January 1, 2006, and has approximately 250 employees located in Narvik and Oslo.
