The Labour Inspection Authority, on a professional and independent basis, ensures that businesses fulfill their responsibilities under the Working Environment Act, the General Application Act, and other relevant regulations within the authority’s jurisdiction.
The Labour Inspection Authority has various tools at its disposal: inspections, knowledge dissemination, guidance, and cooperation. The agency uses these tools to achieve the greatest possible expected effect.
The Labour Inspection Authority is a state agency under the ministry. It consists of a directorate in Trondheim and an external agency with six departments. The departments handle the core activities of the agency and have nationwide responsibility for their areas.
