Norway’s International Climate and Forest Initiative

The initiative’s main goal is to contribute to sustainable forest and land management in developing countries and to reduce pressure on tropical forest areas from global markets. The initiative includes bilateral cooperation with several major rainforest countries. Efforts are directed towards the initiative’s strategic focus areas: sustainable land use policies in forest countries, indigenous peoples and local communities, carbon markets and global incentive structures, transparency and satellite imagery, deforestation-free commodity and financial markets, reduced forest crime, and global support.
