Norway donates NOK 70 million to refugees and migrants

Norway is donating NOK 70 million to UN's International Organization for Migration (IOM)’s work for displaced persons and migrants, Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide announced Tuesday.

Municipalities in Norway still very willing to settle refugees

Norwegian municipalities have so far agreed to settle nearly 19,000 refugees in 2024. If this trend continues, the municipalities will again end up undertaking to settle almost 30,000 refugees this year - on par with the record-breaking years of 2022 and 2023.

Four trains are ready for Ukraine

Two years have passed since Russia’s full scale invation of Ukraine. As a part of Norway’s contribution to keep the economy and life in Ukraine going, four trains that Ukraine has requested, are ready to be transported to the war-stricken country. These are the first passenger trains that are donated to Ukraine through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

Displaced people from Ukraine may have their residence permit for Norway extended by a further year

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security today made an amendment to Norway’s Immigration Regulations, allowing Ukrainians who have had temporary collective protection for two years to be granted continued residence for a further year. A condition for extension is that the person still meets the conditions for a first-time permit.
