Norway’s new national action plan sets out how we will intensify efforts at national and international level to include women in peace and security work.

NOK 1 billion for civilian infrastructure and reconstruction in Ukraine

Norway is providing NOK 1 billion to support the World Bank’s efforts to maintain civilian infrastructure and to start reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. ‘Norway stands ready to provide long-term support to Ukraine,’ said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

Norway will lead defence materiel cooperation in Ukraine

Norway entered into an agreement with Ukraine to support the development of a Ukrainian defence material organisation in March 2023. Norway will now also lead the work at a strategic level in NATO, which coordinates the efforts to develop the defence material work between allied nations and Ukraine. The sector will be developed in the direction of western standards and working methods.

Norway to donate air defence missiles to Ukraine

‘Norway will continue to support Ukraine’s fight to defend itself against Russia for as long as it takes. Ukraine urgently needs more military support and equipment, in particular air defence missiles and ammunition. Norway plans to donate F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine

‘Norway is supporting Ukraine in its efforts to build a modern air defence system. This is both important and necessary. We have already decided to train Ukrainian fighter jet pilots and announced in the summer that we would provide two Norwegian F-16 jets for training purposes. Norway extends agreement on medical evacuation from Ukraine

‘Russia’s illegal war of aggression against Ukraine is continuing unabated. Many Ukrainians are in need of life-saving medical treatment.
