Annually Norway sends a report to the OECD – Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development – as a contribution to the common reporting system on migration for the OECD countries, called SOPEMI. The recent report for Norway covers 2009 and to some extent 2010.

Annually Norway sends a report to the OECD – Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development – as a contribution to the common reporting system on migration for the OECD countries, called SOPEMI. The recent report for Norway covers 2009 and to some extent 2010.

The Norwegian SOPEMI-report, prepared by civil servants from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Children and Equality and the Ministry of Labour - based on figures from Statistics Norway and the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration - contains statistics on migration and the composition of immigrants and their Norwegian-born children. It also presents an overview of developments in immigration and integration policies and. The report covers the major types of immigration (labour, family, humanitarian, student), citizenship, integration in general, training and education, labour market issues, electoral participation and discrimination. It also lists new relevant publications in English. The report for Norway and similar reports from the other member countries are used as important input for the annual publication from the OECD, International Migration Outlook.
