Prime Minister congratulates
Gro Harlem Brundtland
“We extend our warmest congratulations to Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, on her nomination to the post as general director of the World Health Organisation. Her broad political and medical background very well qualifies her for the important tasks of the WHO”, says Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik.
“A major challenge in all development cooperation is to secure everybody’s right to good health”, says Mr. Bondevik. He underlines the need, in today’s open international society, for broad international cooperation to prevent the spread of contagious deseases.
“Norway will actively support the new WHO general director, and we will continue our engagement to promote international health cooperation. I am happy that the active engagement of the Norwegian Government has contributed to Gro Harlem Brundtland’s nomination as leader of an important international organisation”, says Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik.
