Press guidance – Nobel Peace Prize

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded in the Oslo City Hall on Monday 10 December at 13.00.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and representatives of the UN will be present to receive the prize.

The laureates will give a press conference at the Nobel Institute, Drammensveien 19 on Sunday 9 December at 13.00.

A press centre will be established at Grand Hotel, 6th floor (Norwegian 7th floor) in connection with the award of the Peace Prize. The press centre will open on Sunday 9 December at 10.00. The press centre’s telephone and fax numbers will be announced at a later date.

After the ceremony in the Oslo City Hall, CNN will broadcast live an interview with the award winners. Reporters are invited as members of the audience.

According to an agreement between the Norwegian Nobel Institute and the Norwegian Broadcasting Cooperation (NRK), the latter has certain rights to the television recording of the Peace Prize Ceremony 2001. Trans World International (TWI) in London has distribution rights for the entire programme outside the EBU area. NRK may, however, on request provide footage not exceeding five minutes for use in regular news broadcasts by television companies that are members of the EBU.

Requests from foreign television companies for technical assistance may also be directed to NRK.

The Nobel Peace Prize Concert will take place on Tuesday 11 December at 1900 and will be attended by this year’s laureates and by laureates from previous years who are attending the Nobel Peace Prize Centennial Symposium.
