Mona Juul and Terje Rød Larsen

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assessed the situation and found that Ambassador Mona Juul and former Special Adviser Terje Rød Larsen have contravened section 20 of the Civil Service Act and non-statutory principles governing the duty of loyalty.

The main reason for this is that they omitted to inform the ministry, as their employer, about the prize money they had received from the Peres Center and the Gleitsman Foundation.

The ministry made its decision after consultations with the Office of the Attorney General.

Both Mona Juul and Terje Rød Larsen have answered the ministry’s questions on the matter. They have also been informed of the ministry’s view.

In the light of this, the ministry will consider whether any sanctions should be taken against Ambassador Juul. The ministry wishes to point out that no decision has been made about this at the present time.

Terje Rød Larsen is no longer a government employee.
