Ethiopia accepts the decision of the Ethiopian-Eritrean Boundary Commission
“Norway welcomes the news that Ethiopia has in principle accepted the decision made by the Ethiopian-Eritrean Boundary Commission in April 2002. We hope this will give momentum to the peace process and thus lay the groundwork for lasting peace between the two countries,” said Foreign Minister Jan Petersen. “Norway has stressed the importance of both parties honouring their obligation to accept the decision of the Boundary Commission as final and binding. We now hope that both countries will swiftly implement the decision.”
“Norway will continue to have close contact with both parties to see how we can help to ensure that this new movement in the peace process leads to a lasting peace between Ethiopia and Eritrea,” said Mr Petersen.
