Foreign Minister Petersen welcomes Cyprus peace plan
"I welcome the Cyprus peace plan that has been presented by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan," said Foreign Minister Jan Petersen. The plan will now be voted on by the Cypriots in two separate referendums on 24 April.
"I hope the Cypriots will see their chance to put an end to the 30-year conflict in the referendums on 24 April, and that they will seize this unique, historic opportunity to achieve reunification," said the Foreign Minister.
"Norway has been following the situation for a long time, and has supported the peace process through various reconciliation projects in Cyprus," Mr Petersen added.
