Gry Tina Tinde appointed Special Adviser to UNHCR on Gender Issues
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has now appointed Gry Tina Tinde as Special Adviser on Gender Issues. The position, which has been established with Norwegian support, is intended to strengthen UNHCR’s engagement in gender issues, both in relation to refugees and within the organisation.
Ms Tinde (40) is currently senior adviser in the Secretariat of the Council of the Baltic Sea States in Stockholm. She has previously worked with women and gender issues in the Ministry of Defence, the UN and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. Ms Tinde has an undergraduate degree from the University of Oslo, a degree from the College of Europe in Belgium, and a Master’s degree in journalism and social anthropology from the University of Montana in the USA.
