International Development Minister attends UNCTAD XI in Saõ Paolo, Brazil, on 14.-15. June
Ms Hilde F. Johnson, Minister of International Development, is heading the Norwegian delegation to UNCTAD XI, which is being held in Brazil this week. The Minister will be delivering Norway’s main statement and will also chair a high-level round table on trade and poverty.
The main theme of the conference is the developing countries’ participation in the international trading system. A central issue here is the link between national policies and international framework conditions and agreements.
UNCTAD is the UN body that deals with trade and development, and it holds a conference every fourth year.
In connection with her visit, Ms Johnson will hold bilateral talks with a number of ministers, including Brazil’s Minister of Culture, Gilberto Gil.
