Norwegian Minister of International Development attends Africa Economic Summit
International Development Minister Hilde F. Johnson is taking part in the annual Africa Economic Summit, which is being held on 2-4 June. The summit is being attended by African heads of state, heads of various African organisations (NEPAD, AU, SADC) and representatives of the private sector. The Minister will be having bilateral talks with Mozambique’s president, Joaquim Chissano, and South Africa’s president, Thabo Mbeki, and several key ministers from Mozambique, Kenya and Zambia.
The title of the summit is “Engaging Business in Development”, and the aim is to decide on a targeted plan of action for private sector development in Africa. The discussions will cover trade, health and geopolitics.
The Minister will participate in a number of panel discussions, including one on economic growth and development in Africa.
