Donors’ Conference on Sudan, 11 and 12 April 2005 – Practical information for members of the press

The conference will take place at Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel. A press centre has been set up at “Base 1”, which is on the ground floor to the left of the reception desk (tel.: +47 22 05 87 96). Accreditation cards may be picked up at the centre. The centre will be manned on Sunday 10 April from 1800 to 2000, on Monday 11 April from 0800 to 1900 and on Tuesday 12 April from 0800 to 1800.

The conference is open to accredited journalists and photographers, who will be shown to a designated part of the conference room. The conference will be transmitted directly over the Internet.

Sunday 10 April

Minister of International Development Hilde F. Johnson will host a reception for all conference participants at Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel. Accredited members of the press are welcome.

UNICEF Executive Director Carol Bellamy will open the photo exhibition “Children of Sudan” at the hotel.

Monday 11 April

Journalists and photographers covering the conference should meet in the Sonja Henie Ballroom (the conference room) at Radisson SAS Plaza Hotel.

Press conference with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik in Meeting Room 5 ( Holmenkollen), on the 33 rd> floor of the hotel (NB: The press conference will begin precisely at 1230).

Press conference with Minister of International Development Hilde F. Johnson, Sudanese First Vice President Ali Osman Taha and leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Dr John Garang de Mabior in Meeting Room 5 at the hotel.

US Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick and Foreign Minister Jan Petersen will meet members of the press at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 7. juni plassen 1 ( Nordkvartalet, 4 th> floor).

Johnson, Sudanese First Vice President Ali Osman Taha, leader of the SPLM Dr John Garang de Mabior, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Sudan, Jan Pronk, and World Bank Country Director for Sudan and Ethiopia Ishac Diwan.
