Foreign Minister Jan Petersen’s programme at the World Economic Forum in Davos

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Petersen will participate in the World Economic Forum in Davos from 26 to 29 January. The Middle East and the WTO will be central topics on the Minister’s agenda.

The Foreign Minister is a member of the Council of 100 Leaders (C‑100) of the World Economic Forum – a network intended to improve the dialogue between the West and the Islamic world. On Wednesday 26 January he will address the C‑100 on the topic of globalisation – on striking a balance between promoting economic growth and reducing disparities.

On Friday Mr Petersen will be one of the moderators of the session “Middle East 2020: Island of Wealth and Opportunity” and on Saturday morning he will one of the moderators of the session “Disengagement from Gaza: Building Momentum for a Permanent Agreement”, in which Foreign Minister Nabeel Shaat and Finance Minister Salam Fayyad of the Palestinian Area are expected to participate.

On Saturday 29 January Foreign Minister Petersen will participate in a WTO ministerial meeting for a limited number of member states. The purpose is to discuss the status of the current round of WTO negotiations and the way ahead.
