The Norwegian petroleum sector 2003

The average production of Norwegian crude oil is expected to be 2.9 million barrels per day in 2003. Approximately the same level is expected for 2004. Gas export is expected to increase from 72 billion standard cubic metres (scm) this year to 75 billion scm in 2004.

In the National Budget for 2004, investment on the Norwegian continental shelf is estimated to NOK 75.5 billion for 2004 and 66.6 billion this year. The figures include exploration investments.

The state's net cash flow from the petroleum sector is estimated to NOK 143.5 billion next year and NOK 165.9 billion this year.

Taxes and fees constitute approximately NOK 84.3 billion of the state's cash flow in 2004. NOK 54.1 billion is net cash flow from the SDFI. Dividends from Statoil ASA and disposal contributions make up the remaining cash flow. Dividends from Statoil (approx. NOK 5.1 billion) is a technical projection based on dividends paid in 2003.

The net cash flow in 2004 is based on an estimated oil price of NOK 170 per barrel. For the present year the net cash flow is based on an oil price of NOK 200 per barrel.

The value of total exports from the petroleum sector (including pipeline transportation) is estimated to NOK 250.3 billion next year. This is a reduction of NOK 33.4 billion compared with 2003.
