Six air carriers want to operate scheduled air services within Norway

The Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications has received tenders to operate scheduled regional air services within Norway from six air carriers:

Widerøes Flyveselskap AS
European Executive Express AB
Danish Air Transport A/S
Westhelicopter AB
KATO Airline AS
Coast Air AS

On 7 July 2005 The Ministry of Transport and Communicatons invited all EEA air carriers to submit tenders. The invitation to tender included scheduled regional air services within Norway, for the period 1 April 2006 – 31 March 2009.

The exclusive right to operate a route will be awarded the tender requiring the lowest compensation for each route area and also fulfil the requirements set by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Public service obligations as to frequency, seating capacity, aircraft category and maximum fares are among the requirements set by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

The invitation to tender included 16 route areas:

Mo i Rana – Bodø, Mo i Rana – Trondheim, Mosjøen – Bodø, Mosjøen – Trondheim

Namsos – Trondheim, Rørvik – Trondheim

Ruteområde 11

Florø – Oslo, Florø – Bergen

The choice of operator can at the earliest take place on 1 November 2005.
