Norway’s Prime Minister
offers condolences to Spain

Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik Thursday afternoon sent the following letter of condolences to his Spanish colleague, José Maria Aznar, after this morning’s terrorist attacks in Madrid:

”I was shocked and horrified by the news from Madrid today about the outrageous terrorist attacks targeting commuter trains and railway stations in the rush hour. They were an attack on peace and humanity. I condemn this abominable act in the strongest possible terms.

We must continue to fight terrorism with determination and resolve. We must not allow such acts to weaken our commitment to democratic values and the fight against terrorism.

On behalf of the Norwegian Government, I wish to extend my condolences and sympathy. My thoughts are with the bereaved families and all those who were injured, and also with all the people of Spain. We are mourning with you in this time of grief.

Yours sincerely,
Kjell Magne Bondevik”.
