The Norwegian Prime Minister, Mr. Kjell Magne Bondevik, today sent the following letter to the new President of Ukraine, Mr. Viktor Yushchenko:

“I would like to congratulate you on your election as President of Ukraine, and wish you every success in the important tasks that lie ahead. The presidential election signals a new phase in the democratisation of Ukraine. Norway will put great emphasis on renewing and further developing the bilateral relations between our two countries.

I look forward to close and productive co-operation with you, and to a further strengthening of the ties and dialogue between Norway and Ukraine.
