Make Space for Reading! is the Norwegian Government’s strategic plan to stimulate a love of reading and reading skills.
Make Space for Reading! is the Norwegian Government’s strategic plan to stimulate a love of reading and reading skills. The plan was launched in 2003 and roughly EUR
10 million were granted for the first three years. The Directorate for Primary and
Secondary Education is responsible for implementing Make Space for Reading!
Main Aims
• To improve reading skills and the motivation to read among children and
young people
• To improve teachers’ skills at teaching reading, provision of literature and
use of school libraries
• To increase society’s awareness of reading as a basis for other learning,
cultural skills, quality of life and participation in working life and a democratic
society.
