Postal absentee voting for voter resident in Norway (except Svalbard and Jan Mayen)
Absentee voting in Norway will start on 16 July. Absentee voting for voters who are residents of Norway, with the exception of Svalbard and Jan Mayen, shall take place at post offices or by using rural postmen. In some places voting will take place at municipal offices.
In connection with postal absentee voting in Norway, voter’s cards to be used for postal absentee voting will be issued to all registered voters.
Absentee ballots will be final. This means that the person casting an absentee ballot will not be allowed to cast a new ballot for the same election.
Absentee voting outside Norway and on Svalbard and Jan Mayen are not affected by the arrangement for postal absentee voting in Norway.
The arrangement for voter’s cards does not have any implications for absentee voting outside Norway and on Svalbard and Jan Mayen. It is not necessary to show a voter’s card to cast an absentee ballot abroad or on Svalbard and Jan Mayen. Norwegian nationals living abroad will not receive such a voter’s card. If Norwegian nationals living abroad wish to vote in Norway, the Post Office can issue a duplicate voter’s card.
