The press programme

The press programme has been drawn up in cooperation with the Royal Palace, the Oslo Police District and the Municipality of Oslo.

Any additions or corrections will be announced at the Press Centre.

Members of the press must have special accreditation, and admission to certain areas will be restricted to representatives with valid accreditation cards.

NB: Accreditation cards and Pool cards shall be worn so that they are visible.

Speeches, guest lists, menus, entertainment lists etc. will be available at the Press Centre and on the home page of the Royal Palace: www.kongehuset.no at the time the event is to take place.

Important information:

Admission to Press Stands
Accredited members of the press will be admitted to the press stands on Saturday the 25 th>. Admission to the press stands is on a personal, first-come-first-serve basis. Attempts to reserve places will not be allowed – marking tape and other articles will be removed.

NRK TV will broadcast live from Akershus Castle on Friday 24 August – arrivals and speeches (approx. 18.30).

On Saturday 25 August the live broadcast will begin at 15.00 – commentary, the procession to Oslo Cathedral, the wedding ceremony and the return to the Royal Palace. It will continue from the Royal Palace with the arrival of the guests, the procession, speeches, the cutting of the wedding cake, the bridal waltz and entertainment, and will continue from the balcony of the Royal Palace at approx. 23.00.

There will be TV monitors at the Press Centre, so the various events can be viewed there. The programme, beginning at 15.00, will be simultaneously interpreted into English.

The Press Centre is about 10 minutes’ walk from both Oslo Cathedral and the Royal Palace.

Approx. 300 guests have been invited to the dinner hosted by the Government at Akershus Castle on 24 August.

Approx. 800 guests have been invited to the wedding ceremony at Oslo Cathedral on 25 August.

Approx. 250 guests have been invited to the Royal Palace on 25 August.

Approx. 200 guests have been invited to the Oslo Military Society on 25 August. They will join the guests at the Royal Palace after dinner.

Transport

On Thursday 23 August at 17.20 a press bus will take Pool 1 to cover a private dinner at Skaugum (the Royal Residence in Asker). The bus will return at 18.30.

Distance from Oslo to Skaugum: approx. 20 km.

On Saturday 25 August at 10.00 a press bus will take Pool 7 to the Henie-Onstad Art Center in Høvikodden, where HM Queen Sonja’s private art collection is on exhibition. The exhibition, entitled "Impulses", also includes pictures HM Queen Sonja has selected from the museum’s own collection.

Distance from Oslo to Høvikodden: approx. 12 km.

There is also an ordinary bus service, route 151, to Sandviksveien/the Henie-Onstad Art Center:

Press boats, Friday 24 August:

Limited room, only for photographers. Each newspaper or television channel may send a maximum of two photographers.

The detailed programme below lists the times when the press will be given access to restricted areas during events taking place at the Royal Palace, in and outside Oslo Cathedral, at Akershus Castle and at the Henie-Onstad Art Center. The times indicate when representatives of the press must be in place if they are to gain entry to these areas. Representatives of the press will generally be checked through the control points around 15 minutes before the time listed.

Representatives of the press who arrive before the time indicated must be prepared to wait for entry, and those who arrive late may not be allowed to enter at all.

The pools will meet at the Press Centre at 15.15. Special admission cards for Oslo Cathedral will be distributed. The pools will proceed as a unit to Oslo Cathedral, where entry will be through the main gate. Press accreditation and admission cards will be checked. The press will only be permitted to enter if accompanied by personnel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The press will have a designated place. Departure at approximately 18.30 by way of the designated exit.

Dress code for POOL participants: dark suit

The press will have the opportunity to follow the wedding procession from the Royal Palace to Oslo Cathedral and back.

Along the way there will be press stands reserved for press photographers, which will be occupied on a "first-come-first-served" basis.

The wedding will be broadcast on large screens outside Oslo Cathedral and in front of the City Hall.

Please note that it will be difficult to move from one press stand to another.

Only monopods may be used on the press stands.
