The Equality and Anti-discrimination Ombud (EADO) did in 2007 on behalf of the Ministry of Labour and Social Inclusion an information campaign called ”National Anti-discrimination information tour.” The project was financed by ”European Community Action Program to combat discrimination (2001-2006).”
The aim of the information campaign was to spread information concerning Council Directive 2000/43/EC implementing the principle of equal treatment between persons irrespective of racial or ethnic origin and Council Directive 2000/78/EC establishing a general framework for equal treatment in employment and occupation. These directives have been implemented in the Anti-Discrimination Act and in the Working Environment Act Chapter 13. Furthermore, the objective of the project was to communicate that the enforcement of these acts is done by the EADO.
The target groups of the project have been the general population, private and public employers, employee organisations and government bodies engaged in the implementation of the legislation and NGOs.
The Ministry of Children and Equality has the responsibility to follow up EU financed projects against discrimination.
