Minister of Culture Anniken Huitfeldt (Labour Party)

The Minister of Culture is responsible for cultural policy, film and the media, the voluntary sector, gaming and lotteries.

Born: 1969

Anniken Huitfeldt was appointed Minister of Culture on 20 October 2009. Before that she has been Minister of Children and Equality from 2008-2009. Since 2005, Anniken Huitfeldt has been a Member of Parliament for the Labour Party for Akershus County. She was a deputy member in the 2001 – 2005 and 1993 – 1997 parliamentary terms. Ms. Huitfeldt was a researcher with the Institute for Labour and Social Research, FAFO, from 2000 to 2005. She was President of the Labour Youth League from 1996 to 2000, and has headed the Norwegian Labour Party women’s network since 2007. Ms Huitfeldt holds a postgraduate degree in History from the University of Oslo and has completed undergraduate studies in Political Science and Geography. She was a student at the London School of Economics from 1992 to 1993.
