On 7 September 2010 the Norwegian Ministry of Defence entered into an agreement with the Polish Ministry of Defence concerning increased cooperation on defence equipment.

The signing took place during a meeting between defence ministry representative Morten Tiller, who is also Norway’s National Armaments Director, and his Polish colleague Marcin Idzik, during the International Defence Industry Exhibition MSPO 2010 held in Kielce in Poland.

The agreement marks steadily closer cooperation within the defence sector between Norway and Poland. The cooperation includes contact both between the respective defence ministries and between the defence industries in the two countries.

The agreement envisages regular meetings between the two defence ministries with the aim of identifying and developing new areas for cooperation. Morten Tiller, in discussion with his polish counterpart Marcin Idzik, also laid stress on the possibilities offered by this agreement.

During a seminar on air defence at the Defence Industry Exhibition, Morten Tiller emphasised in his introduction the great potential that there was for cooperation between the Norwegian and Polish defence industries – a cooperation which will be of mutual benefit in the modernisation of the countries’ military forces.
