During her visit to Japan, minister for research and higher education Ms. Tora Aasland launched the NorAlumni Japan - a network aimed to connect Japanese students, reserarchers and scolars with Norwegian industry and academia.

During her visit to Japan, minister for research and higher education Ms. Tora Aasland launched the NorAlumni Japan - a network aimed to connect Japanese students, reserarchers and scolars with Norwegian industry and academia.

An increasing number of Japanese choose Norway for higher studies, but not all maintain the link to Norway after completing their studies. There were about 30 Japanese students in Norway in 2010, compared to about 145 Norwegian students in Japan.

- The student exchange between Norway and Japan is small but increasing, and there is are large potential to maintain personal relations created during studies abroad, Arvid Hallén, Director-General of the Research Council of Norway said during his speech at the NorAlumni launch Tuesday Feb. 8th.
