The Seafood and Health Conference 2008 will be held in Bergen between 13th and 16th of May. The Norwegian Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs is responsible for the conference, and Norway’s National Institute of Nutrition and Seafood Research (NIFES) is responsible for the scientific programme.

The effect of seafood consumption on human health is a constantly revisited subject, since seafood is reported to have both positive effects on human health and at the same time contain compounds potentially detrimental to human health. Reports related to these subjects may affect governmental dietary advice and consumer’s seafood intake. Our knowledge in the field of seafood and health is constantly evolving and at a conference in 2008 leading scientists in the field of seafood and health, in addition to policy makers and governmental representative will present the latest in this field.
