Iran has now accepted Norway’s claim for compensation for the damage caused during the attack on the Norwegian Embassy in Tehran on 7 February 2006.
The claim amounted to NOK 69 100, and covers the actual expense of replacing broken windows and painting over the soot from the fire bombs that hit the building.
On 8 May this year, the Iranian Foreign Minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, visited Norway. Foreign Minister Støre raised the matter of the unsettled claim during their meeting. Mr Mottaki promised Mr Støre that the claim would be settled and the sum has now been transferred to the Foreign Ministry’s account.
