30 Nordic and 30 Chinese artists will be performing at the festival, including Bugge Wesseltoft, a leading figure in the European electronic jazz world. The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is supporting the festival with NOK 365.000.
Following last year’s successes in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, NOTCH will return to the same three cities during the first week of October 2007. Time Out Beijing rated NOTCH as one of the top-five concert experiences in 2006.
NOTCH07 showcases a wide spectrum of contemporary Nordic culture, incorporating artists from all five Nordic countries and encompassing multiple genres, such as mixed free jazz, improvisation, electro-acoustic, avant-garde folk, sound art, avant-garde rock, and electronica. It also presents visual art that brings the music even more to life.
The Norwegian performing artists include Bugge Wesseltoft, Supersilent, The Thing, Susanna & the Magical Orchestra, Punkt, Øyon Groven Myhren and Terje Todd.
