- We deplore the death threats against Shirin Ebadi and her family, said State Secretary Raymond Johansen at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“We deplore the death threats against Shirin Ebadi and her family,” said State Secretary Raymond Johansen at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Shirin Ebadi, the Iranian lawyer and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has told the international news agency AFP that she received new death threats on Monday 3 April. According to Ms Ebadi, the threats were directed at both her and her family. These threats must be seen in the light of Ms Ebadi’s efforts to promote human rights in Iran.
“Death threats are completely unacceptable. Shirin Ebadi has been working to promote human rights for many years, and we urge the Iranian authorities to take responsibility for her security situation,” said Mr Johansen.
