A number of Norwegian diplomatic and consular missions are experiencing that there is considerable interest in Norway’s relations with the EU in their host countries. Many Europeans know that Norway is not a member of the EU, but are not aware of the broad cooperation that exists between Norway and the EU, based for example on the EEA Agreement and the Schengen Agreement. The brochure has been written with a broad target group in mind, and may be useful for actors in the business sector, public authorities and civil society, among others.
The brochure will provide a boost to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ public diplomacy efforts abroad and will be widely distributed to Norwegian diplomatic and consular missions in Europe. It will also help to fulfil the Government’s aim of “increasing knowledge about Norway in the EU”, as set out in Report No. 23 to the Storting (2005-2006).
