Norway will host an international conference on the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons in Oslo 4–5 March 2013. The conference provides an arena for a fact-based discussion of the humanitarian and developmental consequences associated with a nuclear weapon detonation.
Norway will host an international conference on the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons in Oslo 4–5 March 2013. The conference provides an arena for a fact-based discussion of the humanitarian and developmental consequences associated with a nuclear weapon detonation.
The conference will be opened on Monday 4 March by Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Antonio Guterres, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The conference, which will be held on senior official level, is open to all states, as well as UN organisations, representatives of civil society and other relevant stakeholders.
Accreditation
The accreditation deadline for media is Friday 1 March 10.00 (Norwegian time). To register go to the conference webpage: http://www.humimpact2013.no/ and register as "media” in the on-line registration form.
Please note that a valid international press card or a Norwegian press card will have to be presented when you pick up your badge at the conference venue. The media accreditation will only be valid when such ID-cards are presented.
The accreditation badges may be collected personally at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sonja Henies plass 3, 1st floor, Sunday 3 March from 17.00 and Monday 4 March from 08.00. The badge should be worn visibly at all times during the conference.
Working rooms and press briefing
There will be a designated work area for the media at the conference venue. The area will have wireless internet access and access to printers. Representatives of the media will be able to follow the proceedings of the conference from a reserved seating area at the back of the main conference room. It will only be allowed to film, record or take pictures at the opening session. Directly after the opening session on Monday 4 March, a press briefing with the opening panellist will take place at the conference venue.
