Norway condemns Thai military coup
Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre condemns the military coup in Thailand.
“The armed forces must step down to allow the return of the democratically elected government. I hope the situation will be resolved peacefully, and that the country returns to democratic order as soon as possible,” said Mr Støre.
“I understand that the situation in Bangkok is calm. The embassy has no reports of any incidents that give cause for concern regarding the situation of Norwegians in Thailand, and no violence has been reported in connection with the coup,” said the Foreign Minister.
State Secretary Raymond Johansen will be available for further political comment.
