Foreign Minister supports UN plan for future of Kosovo
- Martii Ahtisaari’s plan is realistic and well-balanced compromise for the future status of Kosovo, said Norway’s Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Mr Støre went on to point out that the parties must make a constructive effort in the dialogue that the UN special envoy, Mr Ahtisaari, has opened up for.
- Dialogue is vital if this proposal is to lead to stable and lasting solution for Kosovo,” said Mr Støre. He added that Mr Ahtisaari’s plan will pave the way for consultations between the parties.

- It is very important that the international community joins together to support the plan and backs up Mr Ahtisaari’s continued efforts to promote stability in the region,” he continued. He also pointed out that there will still be a significant need for international involvement in Kosovo after its status has been settled.
