“We condemn the terrorist attack outside the Danish Embassy in Islamabad,” said Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. “I have been in touch with my Danish colleague, Per Stig Møller, to express my sympathy.”
“We condemn the terrorist attack outside the Danish Embassy in Islamabad today,” said Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. “I have been in touch with my Danish colleague, Per Stig Møller, today to express my sympathy.”
The Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad also suffered material damage during the attack, but none of the employees were hurt. The Embassy has been temporarily (**foreslår at “temporarily” tas med, slik at “closed” ikke kan oppfattes som “nedlagt”**) closed, and the staff has been moved to a different location. So far, there have been no indications that the attack was directed at the Norwegian Embassy.
The Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad is now in the process of contacting Norwegian nationals who may be in the city. Norway has also offered its assistance to Denmark.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all non-essential travel to Pakistan. Norwegian nationals in the country are urged to be particularly vigilant, especially in Islamabad and other major cities.
Threat assessments are being carried out on an ongoing basis, as is standard practice when a serious incident occurs. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is continuously working to strengthen security at particularly vulnerable diplomatic and consular missions. For reasons of security, the Ministry does not wish to elaborate on these measures.
