“I am pleased to note that to all intents and purposes the presidential elections in Georgia were conducted in accordance with democratic standards,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre.
“I am pleased to note that to all intents and purposes the presidential elections in Georgia were conducted in accordance with democratic standards,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre. “The result can thus be taken as a true expression of the will of the electorate.”
“It is essential that any complaints about irregularities are thoroughly investigated. The elections demonstrated that Georgia still has a long way to go as regards democratic development. Ahead of the parliamentary elections all political actors should engage in a dialogue concerning the challenges that have been identified by international election observers,” said Mr Støre.
“Norway stands ready to continue to support efforts to strengthen democracy in Georgia,” the Foreign Minister added.
