Norway to chair important Middle East meeting in New York on 22 September

Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre will lead the meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee for Assistance to the Palestinians (AHLC), which Norway chairs, in New York on Monday 22 September. A press conference will be held after the meeting at 13:00.

Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre will lead the meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee for Assistance to the Palestinians (AHLC), which Norway chairs, in New York on Monday 22 September. A press conference will be held after the meeting at 13:00.

The main purpose of the meeting is to discuss how the international donor community, in cooperation with Israel and the Palestinian authorities, can help to provide better framework conditions for the Palestinian economy and support Palestinian statebuilding.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will host the meeting. In addition to the Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs Director General Aaron Abramovich, the meeting will also be attended by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice,  EU Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner, EU High Representative Javier Solana, Quartet Representative Tony Blair and other members of the donor group.
