“I am pleased to note that Russia’s Constitutional Court decided on 19 November to extend the moratorium on executions indefinitely. This is an important step towards full abolition of the death penalty in Russia, a step we both welcome and support,” said Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
“The Russian moratorium on executions and the abolition of the death penalty will enhance human dignity and advance human rights in Russia,” said Mr Støre.
Norway is working to promote the universal abolition of the death penalty.
