Norway condemns the attack on the British Embassy in Tehran on Tuesday in the strongest terms. Violent protesters broke into the embassy compound causing damage to the buildings. Diplomatic personnel were present during the attack.
Norway condemns the attack on the British Embassy in Tehran on Tuesday in the strongest terms. Violent protesters broke into the embassy compound causing damage to the buildings. Diplomatic personnel were present during the attack.
“The attack on the British embassy in Tehran is totally unacceptable. The Iranian authorities have a responsibility under international law to protect diplomatic and consular missions and their staff,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been in contact with its representatives at the Norwegian Embassy in Tehran, who are safe and following the situation closely. The Embassy will remain closed until further notice.
