Norway deplores the decision to construct new housing units in Israeli settlements in the West Bank

“I deeply deplore Israel’s decision to allow the construction of several hundred new homes in Israeli settlements in the West Bank,” said Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.  

The Israeli authorities recently made public the decision to allow the construction of 400 new housing units in settlements in the West Bank.  

“Settlements on occupied land are illegal under international law. They are a major impediment to a peaceful solution to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, and one of the most serious threats to a two-state solution,” said Foreign Minister Støre.
