“I am pleased and relieved that the Norwegian woman who was kidnapped in the Sinai peninsula last Thursday has been released and is safe,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide.
She is now on the way to Cairo, where she will receive assistance from the Norwegian Embassy.
The Egyptian authorities spearheaded the efforts to secure the release of the Norwegian woman and an Israeli man who was kidnapped with her.
“We have cooperated closely with the Egyptian authorities, and we are very grateful to them for the successful outcome,” said Mr Eide.
