Civil society representatives will be marking the 10-year anniversary of the Mine Ban Convention with a landmine week in Oslo from 15 to 19 September. The programme includes mine clearance in Spikersuppa park, a concert, films and an international conference.

Civil society representatives will be marking the 10-year anniversary of the Mine Ban Convention with a landmine week in Oslo from 15 to 19 September. The programme includes mine clearance in Spikersuppa park, a concert, films and an international conference.

September marks the passing of 10 years since the negotiations on the Mine Ban Convention were concluded in Oslo. Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Jody Williams and Shirin Ebadi, activists, government representatives and landmine victims from a number of countries will come together in Oslo to consider how the experience gained during the landmine campaign can be used to improve human security.

Highlights:

  • mine clearance, exhibitions and music in Spikersuppa park on Saturday 15 September

  • an official event attended by representatives from 155 countries on 18 September
