A national energy registry will ensure transparent verification and communication of results through a system for measuring, reporting and verification (MRV). A national energy registry can provide information on projects, tenders and investment opportunities in the energy sector, and track results and payments.
A national registry is therefore a centralised mechanism for communicating the status of projects and results achieved.
In addition, a national energy registry will facilitate financing from a wide range of international and domestic sources. The development of a system for measuring, reporting and verification within the national registry will also have important implications for the use of carbon financing in the future.
