The Human Rights Dialogue between Norway and Vietnam was formalised in 2003, and consists of political consultations on human rights and bilateral issues, as well as parallel seminars for experts. The topics of these seminars vary somewhat from year to year. In recent years, focus has been on the rule of law, access to information, and gender equality.
The Human Rights Dialogue also emphasises project cooperation between Norwegian and Vietnamese partners. The largest Norwegian project partner is the Norwegian Human Rights Centre’s Vietnam Programme, which among other things has assisted in the establishment of a Master’s programme in international human rights law and in the drafting of the Access to Information Act. Other projects include the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions and the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise projects in Vietnam to spread knowledge about tripartite cooperation.
