Minister of Petroleum and Energy Ola Borten Moe met UK Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Edward Davey for the first time today. The main topic of the meeting was energy cooperation between Norway and the United Kingdom, although the policy discussions also covered developments in Europe generally and in the energy sector in particular.
“I value the excellent cooperation we have with the UK in the energy sector. The UK authorities have confirmed that gas will remain important to them in future, and this is very important for Norway,” says Minister of Petroleum and Energy Ola Borten Moe.
Around 25 percent of the gas consumed in the UK is covered by imports from Norway.
The planned power cable between Norway and the United Kingdom was also discussed, and the importance of continued investment in carbon capture and storage was emphasised.
