The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy today received the plan for development and operation (PDO) for the Hyme oil and gas field.
- Hyme is an example of a small field which is a tie-in to an existing field. Such projects are important in order to exploit the resources on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in an efficient and good manner, says Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Mr Ola Borten Moe.
The operator Statoil expects oil recovery to be around 24 million barrels of oil equivalents. Investments are expected to be around NOK 4.5 billion.
- The Norwegian Continental Shelf is becoming more mature. We therefore need to develop the small fields in a satisfactory way. I am glad to see profitability in projects like Hyme, says Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Mr Ola Borten Moe.
Hyme is an oil field in the Halten bank area in the Norwegian Sea, 19 kilometres from the Njord field. Hyme was discovered in June 2009 and shall be tied in to existing infrastructur at Njord A which has spare process capacity. The tie in of Hyme will extend Njord’s expected operational life from 2017 to 2020.
